How have we helped?
In 2013 21st Century Leaders sponsored Ian Hyder, Managing Director of Max Publishing to run the London Marathon. Every penny raised from his marathon was split between The Light Fund (the industry charity that he helped set up) and The Children’s Trust Hospital.
About The Light Fund
The Light Fund was created back in 2004 sparked an idea by Jakki Brown and Ian Hyder (co-owners of Max Publishing) to create an industry wide charity body that would raise monies to fund worthwhile charity projects to help children, women and men.
Together with a group of like-minded people from the UK licensing industry, The Light Fund committee was formed and the fundraising commenced!
The Light Fund name is an acronym for: Licensing Industry Giving Help Together
Licensing is a business area concerned with buying and selling of intellectual property (IP) rights. That sounds a bit pompous, however, which is far from the true 'light' in which to view us. The industry encompasses the licensing of entertainment properties (e.g. TV shows and films), personalities, sports clubs, bodies and teams, heritage brands, FMCG brands and art and design concepts. Licensing is a vibrant dynamic industry employing many fun and innovative people. Through The Light Fund this collective, creative energy is ploughed back into raising money for good causes.
Since 2004 The Light Fund has raised over £500,000 for various charities and is now an official registered charity.
The Light Fund is run collectively by a group of individuals employed in the licensing industry. They give their time to The Light Fund for nothing, meaning that the monies raised can go straight to the good charity causes.
The Light Fund committee meets at least six times a year to discuss fundraising and charity matters. In addition to the London-based committee, there is also a Northern Light Fund Committee.
